Strongid-P Paste Horse Wormer
Equestrian Wormer Considerations
As equestrian wormers are controlled in their distribution, you will need to have your purchase approved by one of our SQP licenced members of staff. You can contact us for further information
Strongid-P Paste is a safe, effective, well accepted and easily administered broad-spectrum equine wormer which is effective against adult large and small redworms, ascarids, pinworms and at a double dose, some tapeworms. Its active ingredient is Pyrantel Embonate, this makes it particularly useful on worms with Benzimidazole resistance. It can be administered twice a year at the beginning and end of the grazing season for optimal protection. For treating normal roundworm dosage needs to be repeated every 4 -6 weeks.
One tube will treat 600kg but two tubes are needed to treat tapeworm. It does not kill worm eggs, larvae, lungworms or bots, which means completing a worm test is very important to work out if this is suitable for your needs. Strongid-P Paste is suitable for use on all equids, including foals over 4 weeks of age and donkeys.
Strongid-P Paste is recommended for direct oral administration, it is not necessary to withhold any feed prior to administration. It is presented in an easy to use dosing syringe which can be capped to help ensure you do not give too much. It is important that you read the product datasheet before administering this product and that you use the product only as detailed within.

The following method of administration is recommended:
Position the locking ring over the appropriate mark on the plunger.
Remove the cap from the nozzle.
The paste is best deposited on the upper surface of the tongue. Introduce the nozzle end of the oral doser at the corner of the mouth.
Direct the oral doser backwards and depress the plunger to deposit the paste onto the tongue. Providing the paste is given in this way it is unlikely that any rejection will occur.
Raising the horse's head with a hand under the chin sometimes assists in the swallowing process.
If only part of the paste has been used (see datasheet contra-indications, warnings etc.) replace the cap on the oral doser nozzle.
Any part used oral doser should be stored below 25C and used within two months.
